Houssein, Tania, Gordon, and Dave Wilson (Sandia) published the “Effect of the Dynamic Froude-Krylov Force on Energy Extraction from a Point Absorber Energy Converter with an Hourglass-Shaped Buoy” in Applied Sciences. They showed the importance of including the dynamic Froude-Krylov force for analysis and control system design. They are now testing a 3D-printed hourglass-shaped buoy using MTU Wave's buoy dynamometer and will finish in June 2023.
